On Oct 6th, 2019 March of Dimes Gala took place at The Paddock at the Del Mar Racetrack to benefit their mission fight to support the health of all moms and babies. The evening began with a tasting ensemble of the San Diego's most desirable cuisine, prepared and served by culinary masters from top local restaurants. This extraordinary tasting ensemble gave way to a seated program and live auction, offering an opportunity to bid on unique experience packages.

WINE D’VINE to Benefit Walden Family Services
On October 6th 2018, WINE D’VINE to Benefit Walden Family Services: The Gala featured fine wine from California’s leading vineyards, delicious gourmet cuisine, and live entertainment. The evening began at 6:00 PM with a champagne reception, followed by a dinner, live auction and an exclusive concert “The Moody Blues”. Walden Family Services’ San Diego office provides foster care and adoption, as well as a transitional housing plus foster care program, for children and youth in San Diego County. Their foster care & adoption program specializes in providing stable family environments for children and youth with special healthcare needs and developmental disabilities, as well as sibling groups and youth who identify as LGBTQ. Through their program, foster & adoptive families receive in-depth training and ongoing support to help children heal and thrive. They also offer a transitional housing plus foster care program that provides young people an opportunity to gain the education, life skills, and employment experience to successfully transition to adulthood and community life.
2018 Artistry of Tables & Fashions by Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary
Artistry of Tables & Fashions, put on by the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary. Another sold out event features tables artistically decorated by wonderful and talented ladies. Fashions were gently used fashions from the Salvation Army Thrift Stores which featured many designers such as Prada, Michael Kors, and Kate Spade. The models were from the Salvation Army’s Adult Rehabilitation Center, which is a six month residential treatment program funded by the sale of items at the Salvation Army Thrift Stores. Proceeds from the luncheon will benefit The Salvation Army’s Adult Rehabilitation Center. Pat Whalen and Barbara Colbrese chaired this event and Sandra Maas, was the emcee.
2019 Women's Luncheon-Sharp Mary Birch Hospital, Women & Newborns
On May 29 at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla at Aventine, Sharp Mary Birth Hospital celebrated the extraordinary level of care provided for Women & Newborns! The luncheon was the largest event in support of Growing Together: https://give.sharp.com/growingtogether. All proceeds benefit the Sharp Mary Birch Neonatal Research Institute and Nemeth NICU Follow-Up Clinic. These accomplishments achieved on behalf of their tiniest patients would not be possible without the support of generous philanthropists. Champagne was served during reception with a wide variety of local fashion boutiques.
On Sat August 3rd of 2019, The 73rd Jewel Ball, “Wonderland”, gave the key to a journey down the rabbit hole, into a fantasy world where the impossible was possible.
Sipping on the signature cocktail guests found a ‘shrunken’ who was surrounded by giant flowers, butterflies and mushrooms. The Queen of Hearts may invited the guests to a game of croquet with her flamingo mallets. A deck of cards came to life, and the roses were properly painted red. Guests then whisked into the Mad Hatter’s Ballroom where playful and elegant collide in the most wonderful way!
On the first Saturday in August for the past 72 years, Las Patronas has welcomed guests at the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club, which is transformed for one evening into a magical black tie event. The annual Jewel Ball is a celebration of a yearlong effort by the 50 members of Las Patronas to raise support for thier worthy beneficiaries. The Jewel Ball is unique among other charity events in San Diego – held without a live auction or paddle raise – guests are treated to an exceptionally fun night of dining and dancing under the stars in celebration of the nonprofit beneficiaries and generous supporters.
The first Jewel Ball gala was held in 1947 – attracting 200 guests, and raising $1,357. At that time, La Patronas included 14 members who contributed handmade decorations. Today, the 50 active members of Las Patronas proudly carry on the traditions of our founding members.
The 25th Anniversary Gingerbread City Gala took placed at the Fairmont Grand Del Mar on November 26, 2018 to Showcase Culinary and Gingerbread Masterpieces to Benefit the Epilepsy Foundation of San Diego County which celebrated its Silver Anniversary Gingerbread City Gala by “Honoring 25 Years of Philanthropic Stars”. Guests mesmerized by masterpiece gingerbread structures created by culinary artists for this year’s theme, Castles & Cottages. This iconic holiday event founded 25 years ago by some of San Diego’s leading philanthropists featured dazzling live entertainment, including: harpist Elena Mashovtseva, who has performed with the National Symphony Orchestra of Russia, and now serves as the acting principal harp with the San Diego Symphony. Dr. Michael Cunningham, Chancellor of National University System, joined as the Honoree Host. Net proceeds help to support the programs and services created and provided to tens of thousands of children and adults living with epilepsy and other seizure disorders in San Diego County at no cost to clients and families. The Speckles Organ Pavilion once again transformed into a magical backdrop for the 2019 Gala, Masterpiece in Morocco. Wander to a faraway oasis of culture, art and history under the canopy of a million stars to rejoice in the crown jewel of San Diego, Balboa Park. It transported to a world rich in flowing fabric, lush color, embroidered cushions & gilded tabletops. Dine, dance and delight under the lantern-lights celebrated and supported the ten beneficiaries: Fleet Science Center, San Diego Junior Theatre, San Diego Museum of Art, The Old Globe, Timken Museum of Art. All ten beneficiaries also receive Bucks4Buses grants.
The Arc of San Diego will hold its fashion show and luncheon at the U.S. Grant Hotel featuring runway fashion by celebrity host and nationally renowned Fashion Forward producer Leonard Simpson.
The Arc of San Diego has been a not-for-profit charitable organization established in 1992 to support the many programs and services for those people with disabilities being aided by The Arc.
Since its inception, The Arc Foundation has successfully raised millions of dollars, all the proceeds from which benefit those in need within the San Diego community.
